The tips are for 3.0L Duramax Diesel Engine applications, and feature a dual-outlet design with stainless steel construction and a stealthy Black Chrome coating. Chevrolet/GM Engineers performed 25 cycles of 3-stage corrosion chamber testing to validate the Black Chrome Exhaust Tips. The test includes 8 hours of an ambient stage with a 1% complex salt spray, 8 hours of a humid stage and 8 hours of a dry-off stage to replicate extreme conditions and validate each tip for resistance to discoloration and corrosion. Evaluated via extreme corrosion chamber testing equivalent to 5 years exposure. Additionally, the tips are subjected to a 2-hour thermal heat soak at approximately 392F for discoloration evaluation.
